"Memoirs of My Grandmother"
Lessons are learned in Grammy’s cozy kitchen while the aroma of her hot oyster stew and homemade bread fills the atmosphere … lessons are learned inside Grammy’s screened porch as the threesome snap beans, or while watching her knit or crochet … lessons are learned from the outing in Grammy’s garden to the family’s fishing boat. Even through the nature of Grammy’s favorite backyard birds, and the farm’s labor—and time for play, to her variety of “stews in one’s life”, lessons are learned where the girls were able to see God in everything.
A great read for all audiences. Grammy’s stews, among her other spiritual insights she had in everything around her, is a magnificent source to pass onto our children today.

The way Lynn shared her memories of her Grammy, and the stories she shares, made things make since.
I am certain that "Memoirs of My Grandmother", will remind you of things you've either forgotten, or which simply did not make sense before.
My life has truly been touched by both knowing the author and reading her marvelous 'word pictures' of her Grammy.
I truly can not wait to read more of Lynn Pinkham's books.

It is an excellent book filled with insight and character.
Her Grandmother comes alive through the stories Lynn tells. The Scriture references are for the lay person ...like myself, they are easily followed, and understood. Each Scripture can be found if needed, in the Bible.
I was extremely blessed to be able to read her book. It has helped me to remember lost memories of my Nana, my great-grandfather, as well as my grandmother who passed away in my teen years.
In short I absolutely loved this book. It will be in my stockin' stuffers this year!

Turning Common Place Events into Spiritual Analogies
Lynn draws from her own personal memories and from the notes in the margin of “Grammy’s” Bible to draw lessons on life from the scriptures in a topical, diary, devotional format.
Grammy shared valuable lessons with Lynn on facing insurmountable circumstances, chronic illnesses, and devastating situations. Grammy Sevey had an uncanny gift for taking common place events and turning them into spiritual analogies for facing discouragement, depression, unbelief, doubts, the lack of faith, and the importance of choices.
Lessons from the “Chicken Coop,” from the “Bird House,” or an airplane ride were among my favorites. I also found the devotional titled “More Than Conquerors” relevant and personally helpful. Grammy provided numerous scriptures and challenges for the reader to claim absolute victory to be conquerors through Christ, and to face trials, tribulations, and temptations. She pointed the reader keys for conquering sin and meeting the deceptions and ploys of Satan.
Biblically based, filled with a refreshing approach, “Memoirs of My Grandmother” is not only nostalgic but is filled with nuggets of wisdom for finding the power to live in a godly manner. It is an ideal addition to anyone’s devotional library or as a gift for family members or friends of any age.
Speaker and Author of Unhinged
The story is presented in a number of chapters that balance teachings of the Bible with everyday problems. This includes: financial hardships, addictions, mental illness, coping with loss, and finding spiritual solutions to overcome life’s sudden knocks. Such metaphorical anecdotes include our relationship with the natural world, gardening, and cooking, which contrasts and emphasizes our spiritual well being as well as our mental health. Fundamental themes include: accepting and understanding our spiritual connection with the Lord and overcoming such difficulties as doubt and forgiveness. With the quoted Bible passages enhancing each anecdote, Pinkham is able to convey a spiritual healing process that we can all embrace.
One notable story is when Grammy was knitting mittens. She tells young Pinkham: “I am transforming this skein of yarn into something useful and beautiful. It is important that we become like this yarn in the hands of God so that he can transfer us into something useful and beautiful.” The book is filled with wonderful anecdotal stories rooted in strong spiritual messages.
Pinkham depicts Grammy as a peaceful and spiritual woman with a strong Christian faith. Because the stories are so personal, readers will feel as thought they are sharing in Grammy’s wisdom. Memoirs of my Grandmother is a must read for those who enjoy spiritual wisdom that can be applied to everyday life. It is highly recommended as not only a compelling memoir, but also as a spiritual self-help guide.
